Third Seat

Confortably seated in those medium large leather couches, i tilted sligthly extra to the right, to watch the programme that was already playing on TV though i was totaly unintersted. I was consciously avoiding to see the third seat which lay in my line of sight. In our small living/dinning we have a two + one couch. Though never spoken, agreed or fought over, we had come to agreement on our sides on that sofa with two seat. Despite the fact, we had to stay on our side, avoid streching, we never thought of moving to the other. It was our guest seat. Honourable with two side hand rest, head rest and the wider space.
Now the third seat was occupied. I really dont remember when my husband seated them there. From the looks it was definitely sure they had thier last bath a week or two ago. Both of us never wanted to look at them nor attend to them. We pretended to be very too occupied with our busy schedule. They were in front of us when we sat for dinner, when we watched TV and even when talked how the week end was getting boring sitting at home. As days passed, there were a few more adding on to the crowd. With all the negligence, thier already shrunk faces grew paler.
There were instances when we had to displace them for searching our keys, TV remote that sometime lay with them. Still we were jsut to the point and went along. Completely ignored, and irritated, by all the squeezing they had to.. i some time felt them scream, probably grunt.
It was last sunday. Had to drop our plans to go shopping as we got up just little before noon. All the cooking and eating took away a few more hours. I was tired again and went off to sleep. I heard the other person rattle things, doing the dishes, but did not want to interfere and offer help. Around the evening, he made his way out to shopping, locking the door and carried his keys.
It was two weeks of isolation for them and fight of guilt for me.Needless to say, my partner did not have even a teeeny tiny bit of guilt despite watching them eye to eye, helping more of them to squeeze in almost every second day. Now I was stuck alone, i know for sure, i have no pretence spared now. I decided to face the reality and attend to them. Just a little preparation was required. So helped myself a good cup of tea, standing in the kitchen itself to avoid further embarrasement and switched on aaha FM on laptop. All set i picked them up one by one, wiped them and straightened them all to perfection, with the hotwater press. They were lovely now, yet lil moisty to be in thier place. Left again, well oraganized on the hot seat. Now a week later I proudly carried and showed thier place in the wardrobe.
Finally relaxed for a while in that special seat and it was a moment of glory when i gave that look of ' TRY TO BE RESPONSIBLE LIKE ME' to my husband. That was a long sunday. Monday morning, I am ready to go for work in my washed, ironed, fresh clothes from the wardrobe. (Now dont think about all that happens between the wash and iron.)!!!
